Raleigh, N.C. – North Carolina added another 3,117 coronavirus cases on Sunday, the third highest one-day figure during the epidemic.
Daily total roads are reported to be 3,885 on Saturdays only and 3,119 on Wednesdays.
The steady rise in infections last week pushed the state’s rolling, seven-day average, to 2,699 new cases per day, a new high.
Mitchell, Alexander and Columbus counties have seen the highest rates of new cases in the past two weeks, depending on how many of the 100,000 county residents tested positive during that period.
About 9.9 percent of coronavirus tests are bringing positive results, on the sixth day the metric was higher than .5..5 percent. State officials have said they do not want to see that rate exceed 5 percent.
With 1,395, the length of state days has been unchecked with more than 1,000 people hospitalized with the virus. Oct. 9 was the last day when there were less than 1,000 people in North Carolina hospitals for Covid-19.
Deaths related to other virus0 viruses were reported across the state on Sunday, the third highest number of one-day deaths to date. That pushes the seven-day average to 28 deaths per day in the past week.
