NBA players to resume playoffs after short strike, Thursday’s layoff postponed: reports


The NBA players on Thursday decided to resume playoffs a day after Milwaukee Bucks players decided not to play in protest of the shooting of Jacob Blake.

ESPN reported that the slate of playoff games on Thursday was postponed. The Athletic added that players expect the playoffs to resume as early as Friday or potentially over the weekend.

The NBA has yet to release a statement on the issue.

The development came a day after the Bucks failed to show up for their playoff game against the Orlando Magic. The team chose to strike over the Blake shooting in Kenosha, Wis. The Magic supported the decision of Bucks and the four other teams that followed that night’s games.

The Bucks published a joint statement with support from the front office about reasons they chose not to play.

“In the last few days in our home state of Wisconsin, we have seen the horrific video of Jacob Blake being shot seven times in the back by a Kenosha police officer, and the extra shooting of Protestants.
