Donovan Edwards is desperately needed for Georgia to supercharge offensive payouts for its 2021 recruitment class. The 4-star RB has all the potential to become a three-down chain mower and a big-play weapon for Todd Monken’s crime.
Edwards, which is rated as the country’s No. 4 RB on 247 sports composites, has the rare potential to become a major delivery device in any college ledge offense. It can run between tack calls, out of tack calls, it flashes the ability to run the house and threatens to get as true as a dead schemer in space on linebackers and safety.
But he can do the same for Jim Harboff’s crime in Michigan. West Bloomfield High (West Bloomfield, Mt.) Senior Standout has decided to do just that.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound senior decided on Wednesday to stay at his college home and play for the home state Wolverines. Edwards shared his decision via live steam at CBS Sports headquarters this afternoon.
The popular “Crystal Ball” feature on 247 Sports had 100 percent predictions cleared for the Wolverines today and those predictions were not cloudy.
Georgia’s pitch has been on his mind for a long time, led by S’s recruiter and backs running coach Dale McGee. Edwards withdrew his offer from UGA back in July 2019.
One would be very appreciative of Edwards and his diverse skills for being able to mesh with 4-star RB Signi Lovasia ‘Carroll in this category, but it wasn’t.
While some recruits had to blindly speculate about what their potential qualifications would be in their top schools, they were able to reach Athens this winter before the epidemic halted campus visits across the country.
He was actually able to visit UGA twice for recruitment.
As it turned out, Michigan had its first reported scholarship offer in April 2018. It seems that the relationship went too deep to bring it down south for the same org regia.
Edwards shone his ability in the game last month when he made six touchdowns in the half.
Earlier this fall, it settled in the final seven, which included Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Penn State. His senior season was suspended in mid-November due to Covid-19 precautions at this time in Michigan.
They are set to resume in January, but will not be available to complete their senior season as it is an early registration. That said, Edwards will be able to meet with a significant senior year even if he doesn’t come in full season.
He is able to run back to the quarterback and show his utensils on the receiver in the senior view embedded below. It’s the kind of all-round versatility that made him a wanted member of the 2021 class in Athens.
Their pure 247S port rating puts it as the country’s No. 2 RB probability for this cycle.
