This weekend, two race cars will present ‘We Stand for the National Anthem’ paint schemes at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
NASCAR is heading to Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It marks the first trip to Indiana over the Independence Day weekend (previously celebrated in Daytona).
Mike Harmon Racing feels patriotic. Its two NASCAR Xfinity Series entries will include ‘Stand for the Flag’ on the machines.
This occurs just weeks after NASCAR removed the lines from its rule book requiring members to stand during the National Anthem. It has opened the doors to protests during the hymn.
Previously, any NASCAR member who knelt would have been penalized.
Additionally, the NASCAR president recently stopped the cars on the track before the green flag at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He promoted a need for change within the sport and stated: “We have to do better.”

Kyle Weatherman will drive the No. 47 Chevrolet. Bayley Currey will command the No. 74 Chevrolet. Both will feature Repariables.com and #StandfortheFlag while colored in red, white, and blue.
Weatherman has a better result of 15 with the team after five starts. That came last weekend at Pocono Raceway. The driver has six NXS starts to his credit.
Currey will enter his ninth career with the team this weekend in Indianapolis. He has a better result in 2020 from 18, which he claimed twice in Charlotte and again in Atlanta.
Both cars will also feature the slogan ‘We Stand for the National Anthem’.

History of patriotic painting schemes for Mike Harmon Racing
This is not the first time that Mike Harmon Racing has executed paint schemes in this context.
At Daytona International Speedway, No. 47 featured a reelected Donald Trump scheme. This happened the same weekend that the president marked the step ahead of the Daytona 500.
More recently, No. 47 has featured a #BackTheBlue painting scheme. The hood of that ride featured the ‘Blue Lives Matter’ logo. That car was raced at Talladega Superspeedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway and again at Pocono Raceway.
Bubba Wallace encouraged NASCAR to ban the Confederate flag in an interview with CNN. He then entered the race at Martinsville Speedway in a ‘Black Lives Matter’ paint scheme.
Mike Harmon Racing’s ‘Blue Lives Matter’ car made its Florida debut just three days after Wallace deployed the ‘Black Lives Matter’ machine.

NASCAR recently banned the Confederate flag from all events and properties. This has been a change that has divided much of the fan base. A survey on our own social channels found that 50.5% of our audience was in favor of the ban, while 49.5% agreed.

Following the announcement of the ban, an aircraft flew over the Talladega Superstar with a Confederate flag and the slogan “Defund NASCAR”.
In addition, also shortly after the flag ban, Sonoma Raceway found a knot hanging from a tree on the property of its California race track. A day later, NASCAR mistaken a pull from the garage for a rope at Bubba Wallace’s booth in Talladega.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series will race the Pennzoil 150 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 4.
