NASA is scheduling the first crew Dragon operational flight for Halloween

“The new target date will disconnect the crew-1 launch and the arrival of the next Soyuz launch and landing operation. This extra time is needed to ensure that open work closes, both on the ground and at the station, before the arrival of Crew-1. The increased distance, if necessary, will also provide a good window of opportunity to perform additional tests to isolate the station atmosphere leaks. The SpaceX crew continues to make progress in the preparation of the Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket, and the configuration date allows teams extra time to complete the open work before launch. “

The mission will take NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover and Shannon Walker, as well as JXA’s Sochi Noguchi to the ISS. Will stay there six months. SpaceX delivered the Crew Dragon spacecraft that will be used for this flight to Cape Canaveral in Florida in August. At 2:40 a.m. Eastern time, the capsule will land on NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Halloween at the top of the Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39.

NASA says it is in the final stages of reviewing the data required for the company’s certification following Demo-2. It will broadcast a series of media briefings to provide updates about the certification process and to talk about the September 29, 11 AM East, Crew-1 mission.
