Myles Garrett says NFL owes Colin Kaepernick an apology

Speaking about social justice with Cleveland.com, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett said in a video chat that Kaepernick deserves an NFL apology.

“I feel like they should have a bigger voice,” Garrett replied when asked if the NFL needs to do more. “They have a lot of access to resources. They should be able to talk. I think Kap deserves an apology.”

Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem while playing before games in 2016 as a protest against racial injustice and police brutality, and last played in the league in 2016 after he opted for his contact with the San Francisco 49ers.

Kaepernick accused the NFL and league teams of preventing him from playing, believing he was on the league’s blacklist. He settled his collusion tort case against the NFL last year, but has not yet signed with a team.

Social unrest is taking place across the country following the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery.

Garrett is doing his part to help, and recently paid for the funeral of Louisville chef David McAtee, who was shot dead by authorities trying to disperse protesters.

However, he believes the NFL should lead the charge.

“I know that it is one thing to back us up and support our efforts, but they should be on our side in what we are doing, as there are many big and small players in their stardom trying to do things for their home cities.” where they play and only the areas they know have been affected, “Garrett said.

“I feel like they should be right next to us trying to lead the charge.”

Selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2017 NFL draft, Garrett just signed a $ 125 million, five-year contract extension with the Browns.
