The Dodgers had their second win in the same number of games with another resounding victory over rival Giants on Friday night. The offense missed a few opportunities in the first part of the game, but they finished with nine runs on 13 hits for a 2-0 start to the season.
We have our first winning streak, folks.
Ross Stripling He threw 7 solid innings, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits with 7 strikeouts and no walks. The right-hander showed his new trade in the first inning against Pablo Sandoval. With a running racer, Sandoval chased the change for the third shot. Then Stripling struck out Alex Dickerson with its four squares to close the frame without score.
Max muncy He hit the second homer of the season for the Dodgers with a solo dong in the first inning to right field, giving the Dodgers an early 1-0 lead.
Tyler Anderson He continued to fight the first time through the Dodgers’ lineup. OMG this Dodgers lineup is relentless.
Anderson contained damage in a run despite loading the bases after Muncy’s home run. A Corey Seager bachelor followed consecutive walks to Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger, but Chris Taylor flew to the left to beach three.
Joc Pederson, a designated hitter, made a rare start against a left-handed pitcher. Anderson didn’t take long in the game, but Pederson was able to use his at-bat against him with an opening single in the bottom of the second.
After a two-out walk to Muncy, Gabe Kapler brought the hook early for Anderson.
Justin Turner singled to right Rico Garcia On the first pitch he saw two outs, bringing Joc Pederson home to add another run.
Jaylin Davis got the Giants on the board in the 3rd with a home run on the opposite field vs. Stripling. Perhaps Stripling should avoid throwing his 93 miles per hour downtown. Aside from a few mistakes with his fastball command, Stripling was great.
Seager was doing Seager stuff again. He collected his second hit of the game, a double (shock) to the gap with one out in the 3rd. Kevin Gausman. The Dodgers were stranded two more, missing another scoring opportunity.
Muncy and Turner hit consecutive Gausman doubles in the 4th to make it 3-1.
Even though the Dodgers had a two-run lead, it looked like it should have already been a crooked dash number (spoiler alert) with all the action on base. During the first four innings, they left eight men on base.
There was a terrifying moment when Taylor and Sandoval collided at first base. Sandoval was jumping to catch the shot of Wilmer Flores, and Taylor was running around trying to hit a single.
Fortunately, both players were fine.
Seager with his head on the base running, marked on a large sliding catch by Mike Yastrzemski in the center to steal Will Smith at one blow. Smith got the RBI, and the Dodgers took a 4-1 lead.
Muncy went deep for the second time this season and the night with a single dong in the sixth.
The Dodgers added two other runs in the 7th on a catcher’s shooting error. Rob Brantly and a simple RBI for Mookie Betts.
Jake McGee He made his debut for the Dodgers in Stripling’s eighth relief relay, walking one in goalless.
The Giants … Ow! They gave the Dodgers two more runs in the middle of eighth place. Dylan Floro got the ball in the ninth to close things off.
Dustin May and Ross Stripling was not supposed to even be in the Dodgers’ starting rotation, but both have impressed in their early days replacing David Price and Clayton Kershaw.
I missed you so much, baseball.
