Multiple Marlins players test positive for COVID-19

Before starting his series rubber game with the Phillies and traveling back home to welcome the Orioles, several Marlins players tested positive for coronavirus.

According to Sports Grid’s Craig Mish, at least four players tested positive for COVID-19. One of those players is starting pitcher Jose Urena, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, while one of the position’s players is first baseman Garrett Cooper.

Urena was scheduled to start against Philadelphia on Sunday, but he scratched a few hours before game time. Jon Heyman reported that Urena “feels good” while details about the names of the remaining two position players to test positive are unclear.

After the Marlins and Orioles wrap up their respective road games in Philadelphia and Boston, they will both travel to Miami to start a four-game series on Monday. Florida has been one of the outbreaks of the virus in June and July, reporting more than 12,000 new cases on July 25.

It is unknown if recent Miami test results will affect his next series with Baltimore, although they started their game against the Phillies on time in Sunday with Robert Dugger taking over the mound for Urena.
