MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesota High School Football and Ley Lib .L is back this fall.
In a virtual meeting Monday morning, the board of directors of the Minnesota State High School League voted to reinstate both seasons. Vote for football 15-3; The vote for volleyball was 14-4.
These votes are against the previous month’s decision to postpone the Lib Ball and Football League in March due to concerns over the COVID-19 epidemic.
Fall football football is a go. The board considered:
Football in March is impractical for schools that have no natural grass / no dome
-Multi-sport athletes risk injury and burnout by pushing towards the spring, but ..– Playing sports fast also carries the risk of injury
What affects long-term COVID is unknown– Christian Cordero (CristianWsico) September 21, 2020
The meeting on Monday agreed that both football and volleyball seasons would start practice from September 28.
Speaking of football, with six regular season games, the season will be 10 weeks. The first game -10 CTO. Will be taken on 9-10. The postseason will last two weeks, but not until November. By the end of the 28th. Postseason format remains to be determined.
For Valey Libball, the season will run for 11 weeks with 11 dual competitions. The first competition is scheduled for October 8.
The decision was reversed at a special meeting last week, where officials Aug Gust. Discussed the decision to reconsider the decision, which withdrew the leyball ball and footballer to the spring flex “flex season.”
As a result of that meeting a survey was sent to the schools of the League. According to league officials, about 10,000 schools responded, most of them saying they played volleyball and football not in the spring but in the fall.
This is a developing story. Check back for more.
