We’ll cut to the chase: We weren’t big fans of the first foldable Motorola Razr for a very good reason. But we’ve heard for a while that Motorola has a sequel ready, and an invitation to an event scheduled for Sept. 9. Just sent to members of the media, including Tom’s Guide, strongly suggests that we get our first look at the Motorola Razr 2 soon.
Motorola has announced the savings for Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. ET, where viewers can expect a “VIP, lifestyle-focused event that has a very special announcement.” The GIF to the invitation includes some spinning or fulfilling; It’s honestly difficult to determine exactly what’s going on, although it’s important that it has a striking resemblance to a teaser the company released prior to the unveiling of the first foldable Razr last year.
Whatever happens on September 9, Motorola says it will “revive the smartphone experience”, which the first Razr certainly did not do, with its poor performance, crisp design, low-quality camera, poor battery life and $ 1,500 price tag. We certainly hope that the second generation takes up all that space for improvement, although the rumors so far do not tell us all that much.
There have been rumors that Motorola will upgrade the next Razr’s chipset to Qualcomm’s 5G-capable Snapdragon 765 silicon; it can also look a lot like 8GB RAM and 256GB of built-in storage. The outward camera will presumably capture 48 megapixels instead of 16MP in the original device, while the 5-MP selfie sensor could get a sor-necessary boost to 20MP.
These sound like stimulating improvements if they are indeed true, although we hope Motorola has more planned – such as a higher resolution display, larger battery and, of course, a lower price. With the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G delivering a full flagship experience for under $ 1,500, Motorola’s next foldable could be dead on arrival if it could not push in at a more affordable price to match its less-premium specs .
Even if we see the new Razr in September, the device may not actually follow it until next year. The first iteration took a relatively long time to start shipping after the November launch, as the first units made their way to customers by January due to a short production delay. Stay tuned until the festivities begin in a few weeks; there is a very high chance that leaks will steam up.
