Most coronavirus tests in the US are ‘complete garbage’

Most coronavirus tests used in the United States are trash, according to Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

Gates told Wired that the coronavirus tests are used in the US either it takes too long to deliver results, or they do not have high enough sensitivity to guarantee accuracy. He said the companies that make the tests are not financially encouraged to make a better product.

“The majority of all US tests are completely wasteful, disgusting. If you do not care how late the date is and you are reimbursed at the same level, they will obviously take every customer. Because they make ridiculous money, and they are most rich people get access to that, “Gates said.

“You have to pay the fee system 24 hours a little extra, pay the normal fee for 48 hours and pay nothing [if it isn’t done by then]. And they will repair it tonight, “he added.

The accuracy and efficiency of the COVID-19 tests in the US has been of great concern to many public health officials. On Thursday, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine missed a meeting with President Trump because of a false positive on a rapid response coronavirus test he took prior to the event.

Gates said he had encouraged the federal government to change the payment system for coronavirus testing, but the changes were not made because officials are ‘tired of listening to him’.
