More than two dozen former GOP lawmakers join Republican Biden

Perhaps the most prominent former Republican lawmaker to formally back Biden on Monday is Arizona former senior Jeff Flake, a frequent GOP critic of President Donald Trump who chose to run for reelection in 2018.

Flake urged Republicans last September against offering the president’s bid for a second term – writing in an op-ed for The Washington Post that Trump had “proved that he apparently does not deserve the highest office we have.” to have.”

In a news release Monday, the Biden campaign described the GOP’s distinctions as “a strong blow to the current administration.” The former lawmakers “support Joe Biden because they know what is going on in these elections and that Trump’s failures as president have replaced partisanship,” the campaign said.

Democrats sought to show Republican support for Biden during their four-day convention last week, offering speaking roles to former Ohio Gov. John Kasich; former Reporter Susan Molinari of New York; former Secretary of State Colin Powell; former Gov. of New Jersey, Christine Todd Whitman; and company management Meg Whitman.
