New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, and Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont added 10 more states to their list of travel restrictions on Tuesday, and now require people from 31 states they will be quarantined for 14 days if they visit the area.

The three governors issued national travel restrictions last month to prevent travelers from so-called hot spots from transporting the virus to the region. The travel notice applies to anyone arriving from a state with a positive test rate greater than 10 per 100,000 residents on a seven-day moving average or a state with a positive rate of 10% or more on average seven-day mobile.

The order applies to both visitors to the region and residents of the three states who return home from one of the states on the watchlist. The newly added states are: Alaska, Indiana, Delaware, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, Virginia, and Washington.

“As infection rates increase in 41 other states, our numbers continue to decline steadily, thanks to the hard work of New Yorkers and our incremental openness based on data,” Cuomo said in a statement. “Yesterday, we had the lowest death toll since the pandemic began, and no deaths in New York City. While today’s numbers are encouraging, we must remain vigilant.”

Last week, Cuomo announced that the state would place “application kits” at New York airports to ensure compliance with the travel warning. All passengers on flights entering the state must complete a flyer form from the state Department of Health, the governor said, adding that those who do not complete the form will be subject to a $ 2,000 fine, could be taken to a audience. and he was ordered to complete the mandatory quarantine. It is not clear if New Jersey and Connecticut are following the same enforcement strategies.

Cuomo’s office did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment on how it plans to enforce the restrictions on non-air travelers.

“New York’s success in fighting the COVID-19 virus is under two threats: non-compliance and the virus that reaches New York from other states with increasing rates of infection,” Cuomo said at the time.

New York, once the epicenter of the U.S. outbreak, has made strides in containing the virus, even as it spread rapidly to other parts of the country. Parts of the nation, such as Florida and Texas, which previously imposed travel restrictions on people from the tri-state region of New York, are now dealing with severe and expanding outbreaks.

Here are all the states now affected by travel restrictions: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
