More than 190,000 ceiling fans are recalled after the blades were detached

More than 190,000 roof fans sold at Home Depot have been recalled, while it has been found that their blades may detach while spinning, causing injuries and property damage.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Hampton Bay 54-inch Mara indoor / outdoor fans are sold in stores and online online from April to October this year. About 182,000 fans were sold in the United States and about 8,800 in Canada.

There have been 47 reports of blades being detached from fans. Two of those episodes included a detected blade hitting people, and there have been four reports of property damage from the blade. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

The recall includes matte white, matte black, black and polished nickel finishes, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said. Customers were instructed to stop using fans immediately and added that if they saw blade movement or uneven distance between the blade and the fan body they should contact Fans King fans for free replacement.

In a statement to customers last week, King’s fans said the issue was due to a “separate manufacturer defect.” King of Fans said the issue didn’t affect all of Marana’s 54-inch fans, and provided a link to a video instructing consumers on how to determine if their product is defective.

“We are proud of the quality of our products, and the safety of our customers is our priority,” he says.

Home Depot did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
