More inmates test positive for COVID-19 in Davis County Jail outbreak


FARMINGTON – More inmates at Davis County Jail have tested positive for Covid-19 as part of an ongoing outbreak, Davis County Sheriff’s officials said.

By Christmas Day, a total of 40 inmates had tested positive with one employee as well as in isolation. The first case of the jail was registered on December 18, since then the cases in the facilities have been steadily increasing.

Of the approximately 5,375 inmates in the prison, 83 live in the pod just like the first man infected with the virus, officials said in an earlier statement. According to man and quick tests, about 35 inmates live in the same housing unit, with 1 more people in the unit in December. Tested positive in 18, with 17 negative tests, some of which showed symptoms.

All positive inmates have been kept in solitary confinement and all open inmates have been kept separate for spread rescue, officials said.
