More COVID-19 Hospitals reported in McLean County


There are now six people with COVID-19 hospital in McLean County – the most since late May during a fatal outbreak at a Bloomington nursing home.

Five new cases of the coronavirus were reported Sunday, according to the McLean County Health Department. There are now 110 active cases. That includes six people who are hospitalized, including one in intensive care, and 104 people who are isolated at home.

The last time McLean County had six people with COVID-19 hospital was May 25, during the outbreak of Bloomington Rehab Nursing Home. Many residents of the nursing home were hospitalized during that outbreak, reaching 20 on 20 May on 20 May. This is in contrast to current hospitalizations, which involve people in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

About 31% of McLean County’s 737 cases to date are people in their 20s. The next highest for each group are people in their 40s, with 15% of cases.

The drive-by test site at Bloomington’s Interstate Center stays open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It tests an average of 566 people each day.
