Montana state health officials reported 29 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, including six new cases in Yellowstone County, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 monitoring map.
The state reports a new COVID-19-related death bringing the state total to 22. Details of the death were not immediately available, but it appears the state attributes it to a Rosebud County-related case.
The Rosebud County Health Department posted this statement on its Facebook page:
Unfortunately, there has been another death in the state attributed to COVID-19. The individual has a residence in South Rosebud County, however, he had no longer resided here. We are saddened for every loss due to this disease along with the rest of the state, regardless of where you live, and we wanted to take the initiative to inform you before today’s update as it will be counted in Rosebud County.
Gallatin County registered the majority of new cases with nine, bringing the total number of active cases to 24. With new cases in Yellowstone County, the number of active cases is now 34.
Missoula County registered five new cases, and Ravalli County has four new cases. Big Horn County reported two new cases that brought the total number of active cases to 34.
Flathead County, Richland County and Roosevelt County each added a new case.

The new cases come a day after the state posted its largest single-day increase Thursday of 37 new cases.
There are a total of 829 cumulative cases statewide, according to state health officials, and there are currently 218 active cases in Montana. MTN is reporting one less total case and one less case recovered due to a case in Jefferson County that local health authorities reported involved an out-of-state patient.
A total of 589 people have recovered from the virus and 14 people are currently hospitalized.
The total number of tests increased from 1,829 to 80,161.
