It looks like the “cup of coffee” from one of the Washington Nationals’ baseball players is over.
The MLB club says it fired an employee of the team who was apparently seen on video throwing two cups of hot coffee in the face of an employee of the convenience store.
The incident occurred in the Dominican Republic where the employee, identified by ESPN as Jazhiel Morel, worked as an administrator at the Nationals Baseball Academy in the Caribbean nation, The Associated Press reported.

The video, recorded from behind the store’s counter, shows a customer appearing in a dispute to come with the store’s cashier. Suddenly, the customer picked up two cups of coffee and splashed the contents in the cashier’s face before turning to leave the store.
The MLB club issued a statement on Saturday announcing the dismissal – but not identifying Morel.
“The Washington Nationals learned of this horrific incident earlier today and terminated the employee immediately,” Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo said in the statement. “We tolerate this kind of behavior in our organization.”
Morel has agreed to surrender to police on Monday, his lawyer, Rafael Ariza, a Dominican journalist, told ESPN. It was unclear what cost, if any, Morel would face.
