Four times MLB All-Star Charlie blackmon He says he didn’t have much trouble in his fight with COVID-19 at all … telling reporters on Monday that the flu he had a few years ago was worse.
“My symptoms were what I would consider mild flu symptoms,” said the Colorado Rockies OF. “My head ached, I had a little cough and then I had some body aches. I felt bad.”
But Blackmon, who returned to the Colorado camp for the first time since contracting the coronavirus last month, says his symptoms disappeared after just a day and a half.
“It only lasted about 36 hours,” Blackmon said, “and I would consider it mild compared to the flu. A few years ago I had the flu itself and thought that was going to wipe me out.”
Don’t twist it … Blackmon says he knows he’s lucky his experience with the virus wasn’t much worse, but he emphasized: “I would consider the symptoms I felt to be minor.”
It’s great news for the Rockies and MLB in general … when Blackmon was diagnosed last month – Obviously there was some concern for the 34-year-old man.
But, Charlie told members of the media that everything is fine … and he might even be ready for the team’s season opener later this month.
“I am healthy and I don’t expect to be at risk,” said Charlie, “and I don’t expect to risk other people’s health for the rest of the season.”
