Milwaukee Brewers reliever Devin Williams was announced on Monday night as the 2020 National League Rookie of the Year. He defeated Alec Bom, Phillies’ third baseman, and Pedres Infielder Jack Cronworth for the award. Williams received 14 out of 30 votes in the first place, including nine in Bohm, six in Cronenworth and one for Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin.

Williams, 26, made his MLB debut in August 2019 and has been on Milwaukee’s big league roster throughout the 2020 season. He conceded just one earned run (0.33 ERA) and eight hits (0.63 WHIP) in 27 innings this season while dismissing 53 batsmen. He works for 1.2 fights in just 27 innings. He joins Ryan Brown (2007) and Pat Listach (1992), the only brewer of the year named Rookie.

Season 26 Cronworth, for the season, was Rookie the Favorite of the Year. But he struggled until late, and he still finished with an excellent .285 / .354 / .477 batting line and 15 doubles in 54 games. Bohm, 24, made his debut on 13 Aug Gust and had a big impact in 44 games, including .338 / .400 / .481 with four homers and 23 RBIs.

In the American League, Mariners slugger Kyle Lewis unanimously takes Rookie of the Year honors.

As a reminder, voting for all major prizes takes place after the regular season and before the postseason. These are just regular season rewards.

The Rookie of the Year Awards are the first of the major MLB awards to be presented this week. Keep up with all the award finalists and schedules here.
