Mitchell Trubisky has made ‘phenomenal gains’

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky has made “phenomenal gains” during offseason training.

After a tough 2019 NFL season, the Chicago Bears traded quarterback Nick Foles to add competition to the team’s quarterback position.

Along with the trade for Foles, the Bears rejected quarterback Mitchell Trubisky’s fifth-year option with the team.

Rather than shy away from a year in which Trubisky and the team backed down, Trubisky has worked with different coaches to become the elite passer that the Bears hoped to have when they recruited him in 2017.

Trubisky was interviewed by the Bears’ media a few weeks ago, telling them how excited he was about the healthy quarterback competition with Foles, but still believes this is his team. Trubisky’s teammates have come out and said positive things about him and his valuable ethics with them this offseason.

Trubisky underwent surgery on his left shoulder this offseason, which found him working with “SPEAR Training.” A SPEAR Training Instagram post had this to say about Trubisky’s recovery and work this offseason:

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky has made phenomenal gains this offseason with his training. Before beginning his training, he was recovering from surgery for a partially torn labrum in his non-throwing arm. Since training here at SPEAR, his shoulder is as strong as ever, and his mobility, range of motion, and strength have improved significantly. His throwing arm was structurally unbalanced when we started with him from all the overuse. As he heads to his next and final training phase before heading back to camp, his pitching arm is structurally balanced and he’s throwing the ball extremely well, feeling as good as ever. His hard work this offseason and his effort in the weight room has been relentless! Super excited for him to show his new strength on the field this season !!!

With Trubisky’s launch arm structurally unbalanced throughout his career, that could explain why his precision isn’t where it should be. Trubisky missed key shots last season that the NFL’s second overall pick should not be missed.

If Trubisky has really gotten better and can win the starting quarterback job, he could prove to be the franchise quarterback that Chicago thought he was when he was recruited.

Fans should want Trubisky to do well this season and win Foles’ job for two reasons. One, Trubisky is 25 years old, so if he can become an elite quarterback, the team is in the quarterback position for at least 10 years. Second, the fact that Foles wins has him as the team’s quarterback as they seek to find their future franchise quarterback. Trubisky, who is not exercising this season, pushes the team back.

I still think this is Mitch’s team and this season will be exciting. It’s good to hear some positive news about Trubisky physically improving. As long as I can translate this to the soccer field, a ton of Bears fans will have faith in Trubisky again.
