SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Starting the week of July 5-11, unemployed workers who wish to continue receiving unemployment benefits in Missouri will be required to conduct job search activities.
The state has now reinstated unemployment and food stamp requirements that were previously not applied in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Those who want to receive unemployment benefits, including the $ 600 federal supplement through July 25, must now complete job search activities, a requirement that had previously been removed for those who filed a coronavirus-related unemployment claim.
A job search activity is an attempt to obtain employment or resume work. Three job search activities are required to complete each week someone requests payment.
There are some exceptions, even if a person is in approved training, has a definitive retirement date from an employer, or is part of a Shared Work Program.
According to a Missouri Department of Labor press release, examples of job search activities include, but are not limited to:
-access and job search in MOJobs
-participating in a Missouri Job Center workshop
-attend a job interview or job fair
-complete applications online
