Missing jogger from Arkansas Sydney Sutherland has been found dead, man arrested

A Arkansas jogger who was missing for days after being found murdered was killed not far from her home – and a farmer has been arrested in connection with her death.

Sydney Sutherland, 25, was last seen on Wednesday afternoon when she left home for a jog on a motorway between the cities of Newport and Grubbs, KAIT reported.

After nearly two days of searching with local residents, authorities on Friday discovered a body not far from their home and on Saturday confirmed via a DNA test that it was Sutherland.

Quake Lewellyn, 28, a Jonesboro farmer, was arrested on suspicion of capital murder, local branch NBC reported.

Jackson County Sheriff David County told reporters Friday afternoon that Lewellyn was familiar with Sutherland, although details of her connection were not immediate.

The sheriff’s office’s chief was Sutherland’s mobile phone, which was found about a quarter of a mile from her home on Thursday night, KAIT reported.

Her body was discovered nearby the next day at 2 p.m.

Sutherland worked at Harris Medical Center in Newport and was remembered as a friendly and outgoing person who put her family first.

“She’s very close to her family,” Jennifer Eddington, an employee, told WMC5.

‘We just know she would not leave on her own without contacting anyone; that is not their nature. “

Sheriff Lucas said Sutherland’s death hit him hard because he knew her family.

“It took a toll, it really did,” he said.

‘Just because I know the people of this province. I know this family personally. I know this young lady personally. I knew her and watched her grow up. It affects me personally, ‘he said.

“And that’s another reason why we want to work so hard and try to find them.”
