Thoughts on the loss of Seminoles 69-67:
Archie Miller calls timeout in Huff & Puff. His hookers just took an aggressive stance by throwing the Florida State Free, which ended in a possession Ryakwan Gray Baseline Drive and to put the Seminoles ahead of the competition by about a minute and a half.
This felt a bit like the start of a Texas game, with the bigger, more physically aggressive Florida State team jumping on the hosiery in the flint. But Archie’s timeline settled the Hoosiers. Indiana scored 8-0 to take a 10-8 lead. And since then, Indiana has continued its efforts and intensity, despite some opulent play and inability to cut shots at times. Tonight was a humorous, fanatical, never-before-seen performance by the Hoosiers team against the team that made it to the 24th content winners at home, directly to the Overtime Nine and to freshen up in the ACC Championship.
It also pitched the battle with each team allocating a little bit, any inches used were withdrawn, the game was hanging within three points on both sides in the final 18:24 of the second half and the final match of all five minutes of overtime. Even a mud fight with all rounds. Race with photo finish. But as the photo was examined, Florida State’s Scotty Barnes took the second step over Armaan Franklin and proved to be the winner, leaving Jackson-Davis in trace with 1.8 seconds left in the OT. There’s a bit of a flaw in Hoziers ’approach to finding out tonight. Still, there’s a missing opportunity to steal someone in Tallahassee in front of a real (albeit sporadic) crowd with FSU cheerleaders and bands, which makes this realization a typical college field atmosphere.
As we’ve been watching sternly so far this season, Indiana’s 3-point shooting wasn’t good in this one (4-of-15, 26.7 percent), although it looked like the numbers looked good which just missed or went out. The Hoosiers are ranked fourth out of their five games as of tonight, at .96 points. He also turned the ball over to 20 percent of his wealth, most of which comes in the first half of the loss. But Indiana found a way to make things work. Hoosiers reached the line 28 times and made 21 attempts (75 percent). After taking just four shots in the first half, Indiana found Jackson-Davis more consistent after the break, moving to 25 points and 17 rebounds in the second half and overtime, the latter of career highs. Yet, the starting line of three guards from Rob Finisi, Al Durham and Franklin only got a 6-29-shot from the floor.
The state of Florida has been volatile since tonight (11-of-21, 52.4 percent) and its effective area target percentage is Indiana (42 percent vs. 40 percent). Balsa Coprivica’s second half foul difficulty was also helpful for the Hushiers, as it was a tough cover tonight. On the overall defense, Indiana continues to shine. He has caught up with all five opponents, such as Seminoles arriving at .99 on the night of .99.
There are another one million micro moments beyond what we can analyze – failing to secure several defensive rebounds within a minute to go into Indiana regulation; Franklin dropped outside limits near the end of time; Makes some dubious false calls for both teams – but we’ll leave this TMA here.
Indiana played with so much spirit this evening, she soon fell into a game that could go anywhere. You will try. You will curse many others.
