SWITCH RULES
In terms of tiebreakers, this is the order and format in which the league position will be classified if the teams finish level in points:
- Target difference
- Goals scored
- Points earned in face-to-face meetings
- Goals set apart in face-to-face meetings
If the teams are still unable to separate after the previous playoffs, a playoff will be arranged (on neutral ground in the format, time and place determined by the Premier League Board).
Aston Villa
Last match: 11 am ET Sunday at West Ham
Villa needs a little more than a victory or waiting for Watford to drop at Arsenal.
How could Villa go down with a victory? If Watford beats Arsenal by at least two more goals than Villa defeats West Ham, he will beat the Villans.
Similarly, if Bournemouth ties or loses, and Villa and Watford lose, Villa could fall if they lose to West Ham by at least two more goals than Watford loses to Arsenal.
If both Villa and Watford tie, Villa stays awake.
If Villa ties and Watford loses, Villa remains awake regardless of what Bournemouth does at Everton.
Watford
Last match: 11 am ET on Sunday at Arsenal
A victory over the Gunners would be enough if Villa loses.
A draw would be enough if West Ham beats Aston Villa.
Watford could even hold on to a loss if Bournemouth ties or loses and Villa loses to West Ham by two more goals than the Hornets lose to Arsenal.
Bournemouth
Last match: 11 am ET Sunday at Everton
Cherries need to win at Everton. Something less and they are down.
If Eddie Howe’s men knock down the Toffees, they also need Watford and Villa to lose.
