Microsoft began testing the Edge Chromium browser on the Xbox

Microsoft has begun public testing of its new Edge Chromium-powered browser on the Xbox console. Xbox testers from the Alpha Skip-Head group can now access the new Micro .ft Edge access on Xbox One or Xbox series S / X consoles. While full mouse and keyboard support is still missing, the browser works just as you’d expect with an Xbox controller, albeit with a slight bug in this initial trial version.

The Chromium browser on the Xbox is an incentive for people who want to access websites through their console. Edge will now also provide access to Google’s Stadia streaming service, thanks to improved compatibility support with Chromium. Compatibility with browser-based games and services such as Skype or Discord via the web should also be improved.

This initial trial version appears to include the same Edge sync engine with support for extensions, icons, archives, and most Edge desktop features.

Support for the current legacy version of Microsoft .ft Edge on Windows Desktop ends March 9, and Microsoft’s testing of this updated browser suggests that it will soon reach all Xbox consoles.
