Mets to start Tuesday

10:47 a.m .: Major League Baseball announced, via press release, that the Mets will host the Marlins tomorrow for a doubleheader, which will compensate for the postponement of last Thursday. The upcoming weekend Subway Series against the Yankees will indeed feature doubleheaders on Friday and Sunday, as Sherman previously reported.

8:10 a.m .: The Mets have not had any further positive Covid-19 tests since a player and coach tested positive last Thursday, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post (via Twitter). The team is expected to play again Tuesday with a series of three games against the visiting Marlins.

Last week’s series final against the same Marlins club was postponed due to the initial tests, so it is possible that a doubleheader will now be set in this upcoming three-game set to make up for that lost game.

This planned Subway Series against the Yankees last weekend was also thwarted, although the two sides should be able to make those three games, adopted through negative testing. The Mets are expected to play a three-game series in the Bronx on Friday. Sherman continued tweets that is the current plan for the Yankees and Mets to play doubleheaders both Friday and Sunday this coming weekend, with an additional make-up game set to fall on September 3, when both clubs had an off-day plan.
