Thanksgiving 2020 will look different in many ways, and includes the traditional Messi Thanksgiving Parade. But the holiday will be spectacular, and it will still be televised live, so that home cooks can tune in to their pre-prep Turkey dinner from a social distance. The parade will be broadcast on NBC All time zones from 9 a.m. to noon. Here’s how to follow through, and how to anticipate.

What has changed?

Messi has partnered with New York City to try to make this year’s parade safer without sacrificing grandeur.

“In order not to attract large crowds of spectators on our traditional 2.5-mile route in New York City, we have shortened the route to full focus on the last part of our annual march,” a company representative said. Said in a statement. “On Thanksgiving Day, we’ll be showcasing our annual celebration signature balloons, floats, displays and the arrival of Santa Claus, in front of Messi’s famous flagship store on 34th Street for our national television special on NBC.”

In other words, don’t go to the New Yorkers store. Stay at home and watch balloons and on TV or online.

The company is also reducing the number of participants, testing them for COVID-19 and pre-recording performances that are usually live. Participants will wear masks and social distance, a student marching band will not join this year, and an annual Thanksgiving Eve balloon-inflation celebration will not be held.

The choice of signature giant balloons will still be there, but instead of being flown by 80 to 100 human handlers, they will be flown by special vehicles with fewer people involved.

Broadway is the best

Don’t throw your shot. There will be blockbuster musicals from Hamilton’s cast, as well as other musicals, including Ian to Pride – The Life and Times The F the Temptations, Jagged Little Peel and Mean Girls. Radio City will also introduce rockets.

Dualing Holiday-Movie Floats

Lifetime Holiday Movies has a lot of dedicated fans, and for the first time this year, the network is participating in a parade. Its float looks like a charming tiny square that appears in many movies and shows enough (fake, we assume) ice to make 9,000 snowballs. Tori Kelly will perform on the float.

But maybe you like Hallmark Channel’s holiday movies? It looks like a network 3-D Christmas countdown calendar, with each marked December date, Central Fireplace and a float provided with surprises performed by Pentatonics.

Meet the new boss

From the 2010 book, the 2017 film and the 2018 Netflix series, the business-appropriate Boss Baby will parade his big head and serious demeanor. It will be a new balloon this year, a planned 2021 big-screen sequel to The Boss Baby: Spreading Early Hype for the Family Business.

Tom and Jerry

Assuming an epidemic in 2021, the live- / action / animated Tom and Jerry movie is coming. The famous fighting cat and mouse has a float of laughter in this year’s parade. Given the slapstick history of the two, their float is designed to look like it crashed and the gag shows Tom inflates. Mewaza!
