Mercury Prize 2020 Shortlist: Charli XCX, Laura Marling, Dua Lipa, more


The Mercury Prize has announced its 2020 shortlist. Nominees include Charli XCX, Porridge Radio, Stormzy, Dua Lipa, Laura Marling, Anna Meredith, Kano, and others. Find the full list below.

This year’s Mercury Award honors the best British album released between July 20, 2019 and July 17 this year, chosen by a panel of British music critics and industry professionals. Last year Dave won the Mercury Prize for his LP Psychodrama. Dave’s record surpassed the 1975 albums, slowthai, black midi, Nao, Little Simz and others.

Previous award winners include Wolf Alice, Sampha, James Blake, PJ Harvey, Pulp, Portishead, and others. This year’s award ceremony will take place at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on September 10 (depending on government guidelines around COVID-19).
