Mel Gibson is the latest celebrity to beat the coronavirus.
The 64-year-old “Braveheart” actor was hospitalized in Los Angeles for a week in April after testing positive for COVID-19, the Associated Press confirmed Friday.
Gibson has made a full recovery since then.
“He was treated with the drug Remdesivir while in the hospital, and has tested negative on numerous occasions since then, as well as positive for the antibodies,” according to a statement sent by the Gibson representative to People and Today.
Remdesivir, an antiviral initially developed to treat Ebola, has not yet been approved for widespread use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, but has been given emergency use authorization to treat patients with COVID-19. .
