Meghan Markle’s Genie Packing Tip from Finding Freedom

Find freedom, the new biography of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, now published by reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, offers insights into the life and work of the royal couple, including their unusual decision to move away from their senior positions within the family.

There are many surprising details in the book, but perhaps the most practical revelation tip is from Meghan’s genius.

When Harry and Meghan traveled to Botswana early in their relationship, Meghan brought only one backpack.

“Extremely organized, Meghan immediately impressed Harry with her packing skills. She has always been proud to be a great packer,” the authors write, “going so far as to lay drier licks between her clothes to make her smell fresh and no business destination that always brings tea-tree oil for bites, cuts, and pimples. ”

This is not the first time that Meghan’s sensible travel tips have been shared in public. Back in her pre-royal days, Meghan posted a few extra travel tips on her now-defunct lifestyle site, The Tig.

When it comes to travel, “the first problem is self-care,” she wrote in a 2016 post. “It’s easy to run yourself rough, jump from one location to another, sometimes feeling homesick, and other times just feeling old sick (stomach, head cold, you name it.)”

To combat those problems, Meghan said she always brings a compiled collection of essential in-flight, one of which is sanitizer on hand.

“I’m not a germophobe, but when I get on a plane, I always use some quick towels as a travel sanitizer spray to wipe it all off,” she wrote. “That includes the small TV, the service table and all the buttons around your chair.”

Meghan also revealed how she fights jet lag: with a strategy from one of her closest friends, Misha Nonoo.

“My friend and designer extraordinaire, Misha Nonoo, once told me that if you eat on the schedule of where you’re landed, you’ll not feel jet lag,” Meghan shared. “By just eating a meal at the moment the population is like you land, your brains trick a bit and stay much more on course, and much less cranky.”
