Meghan Markle acknowledged that when she first moved to the United States in April after nearly a decade of living in Canada and the United Kingdom, she felt the political and racial unrest.
The Duchess of Sussex, 39, appeared on Friday in conversation with the co-founder and CEO of The 19th *, Emily Ramshaw, and discussed the consequences of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and the death of Breonna Taylor.
“To come back and just see this state of affairs, I think at first, if I’m honest, it was just devastating,” she said. “It was so sad to see where our country was at that moment.”

“If there’s any silver lining in it, I ‘d say that in the weeks after George Floyd’s assassination, in the peaceful protests you saw, in the voices that came out, by the way. that people own their role … the shift from sadness to a sense of absolute inspiration, because I can see the tide turning, ”Markle explained.
The former actress said she looked forward to using her voice for causes that matter most to her, such as voices, honest journalism, and raising and educating women and men of color.
“From my point of view, it’s not new to see this undercurrent of racism and certain unconscious bias, but I think the changes that are being made right now are real – it’s what I look forward to being a part of,” said Markle. “And part of using my voice in a way I could not for a long time. So, yes, it’s good to be home.”

Following the announcement in March, they would return as older members of the royal family, Prince Harry and Markle moved to Canada then to California with their one-year-old son Archie.
They recently moved to a place in Santa Barbara, a representative for the couple previously confirmed to Fox News.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have moved into their family home in July of this year,” a spokesman said. “They have established themselves in the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope this will be respected for their neighbors, as well as for them as a family.”

News of the departure of Markle and Prince Harry from Los Angeles comes just weeks after they filed a complaint against photographers who allegedly used long lenses and deployed drones to take pictures of her and her son in the house.
