Meghan Markle, Prince Harry change the name of Sussex Royal into MWX Foundation

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially changed the name of their Sussex Royal brand into the MWX Foundation, it is reported.

The couple decided to stop the word “royal” in their branding after stepping down as senior royals earlier this year.

Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan, 39, officially announced their departure as working royals – named “Megxit” – with their new life to begin on April 1.

Paperwork with the formal name change has now been published, revealing that it was registered on August 5, MailOnline reports.

It described the change from ‘Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ to ‘MWX Foundation’, with speculation this could stand for the Markle Windsor Foundation.

The change comes just weeks after parents submitted to one-year-old Archie to change the name of her Sussex Royal charity to MWX, but withdrew the application just nine minutes later.

Paperwork describing the formal liquidation of Sussex Royal on Business House stated that it would be renamed the MWX Foundation while it was being dissolved.

But the pair made a U-turn after a moment later a notification was issued confirming that the Notice Change of Notice had been withdrawn.

Previously submitted documents also revealed that a number of directors, including Meghan, stepped down, confirming that the charitable foundation is officially closed.

The directors including The Duchess of Sussex, Gerald Tyrrell, Karen Blackett, Steven Cooper, Kirsty Jones and Stefan Allesch-Taylor have left, leaving Harry as the sole director.

The pair was previously linked to the MWX brand, with the pair establishing MWX Trading Ltd in August.

They registered it with Companies House, and have presumably used it to solicit trademarks, including Travalyst.

The name change comes after the Queen told her she could not use the word “Royal” in her branding after leaving the firm.

The couple claimed they wanted to be financially independent and later moved to North America.

The Sussex Royal Foundation was launched on 1 July last year, after the couple split from the foundation they previously shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The pair also announced in April that they will launch a new charity Archewell, which will replace their brand Sussex Royal.

Harry and Meghan said they got inspiration for the name because the Greek word “Arche” means the “source of action”.
