The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were discussing justice and equal rights with the young leaders of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, of whom they are President and Vice President, respectively. In the video, the couple said the Commonwealth must acknowledge their past, even when it is awkward to do so, because “everyone benefits.” They covered topics such as historical injustice, unconscious prejudice and racism in light of the Black Lives Matter movement, touching on the Commonwealth theme, which grew out of the British Empire and is now headed by Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
While the content of what the couple was saying was very important, some viewers couldn’t help but notice how Meghan seemed to pull Harry off to the side of the screen, ending up in the middle herself.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk that this was clearly unintended, but admitted that it was quite amusing.
He said: “In her video link to the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, Meghan appears to be progressively bringing Harry to the side of the screen during the broadcast which is obviously unintentionally somewhat comical.”
However, he ruled out another observation that actual watchers of the recent Sussex videos made: the unattractive beige background.

He said: “The focus should be on the speakers so that the muted backgrounds are not significant.”
Speaking on the video call with inspiring young leaders, Meghan and Harry emphasized the need to acknowledge past mistakes.
Harry said, “I think certainly when you look through the Commonwealth, there is no way we can move forward unless we acknowledge the past.”
Meghan added, in addition to examining society at the macro level, an important aspect of the alliance is examining its own past and its own biases.
Meghan spoke about Black Lives Matter in a solo video in June
It is possible that she was thinking of her husband Harry, who could be reflecting and learning from his own mistakes.
The video emerged in 2009 showing Harry in 2006 referring to an Asian member of his platoon as “our little friend Paki,” a racial slur that was condemned by several high-ranking politicians and the leader of a youth organization Mulsim at the time. .
Then, of course, there was the infamous Nazi outfit he wore for a costume party in 2005.
Harry apologized for both instances.

Mike Omoniyi, founder and editor-in-chief of The Common Sense Network
One of the young leaders on the call was Mike Omoniyi, founder and editor-in-chief of The Common Sense Network, who described what he considers an ally to people of color.
He said that people should avoid “performative alliance” like posting a hashtag and thinking that is all they need to do.
He added that the ally must come from a place of “humility and kindness.”
Meghan said: “It is such a good point Mike that you say, because a lot of that is also in that self-reflection, it is to recognize the mistakes that we have all made, right?
“So we look at the Commonwealth and I know that part of the conversation that we will explore later is looking at the history of that, but if you start at that macro level you also have to look for a more micro level with each of us individually.
“What have we done in our past? That we raised our hands and I think this is a moment of reckoning, where so many people go ‘I need to admit that, maybe I didn’t do the right thing there. I knew what I knew, however now is the time to restart in a different way. ‘
“And I think for both of us it is part of the conversation that we have had enough in our calls during the last weeks that we have had about the Black Lives Matter Movement so that everyone is part of this conversation.”
