- Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie will automatically become a prince when Prince Charles becomes king.
- It will be up to Archie whether he wants an HRH title or not when he turns 18.
You know how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are parents of the cutest child ever, aka Archie? Well, in case you forgot, this sweet child is not a prince (yet!), And is currently going through Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
However, The Express (fia Us weekly) reports that Archie will technically become a prince as soon as his grandfather Prince Charles becomes King of England – although apparently it will be up to him whether he wants Prince Archie or not, or wants to use the formal title of His Royal Highness at the age of 18 ( who stopped using his parents when they retired earlier this year as older working members of the royal family).
The Express also notes that the Succession of the Crown Act of 2013 stipulates that royals who are sixth in line to the throne (who will be Archie when Prince Charles is king) must ask the monarch for permission to marry, which means that Archie could technically should ask Charles’ permission to tie the knot when the time comes – though perhaps this outdated rule is more of a formality then? Whomst wit.
Also in case you are jealous, here is the current line of follow up:
- Prince Charles
- Prince William
- Prince George
- Princess Charlotte
- Prince Louis
- Prince Harry
- Master Archie
