Senator Mitt Romney said he would win the GOP nomination in “Landslide” if President Donald Trump decides to run for the White House again in 2024.
Talking to Romney (R – Utah) New York Times’ Deal Book When he addressed Trump’s position on the future of the Republican Party.
“She’s the biggest voice ever and the biggest influence in my party,” Romney said. “I don’t know if he plans to participate in 2024, but if he does, I’m sure he will win the nomination.”
Romney made it clear that “a lot could happen between now and 2024” but the poll cited that Trump would “win the landslide” if he were in the race.
A Politico / Morning Consult poll conducted in the days leading up to his acquittal in the Senate hearing showed that 53 percent of Republicans would vote for Trump in the primary. Mike Pence received 12 percent of the vote. All the other candidates were in one issue.
But the Utah senator made it clear that he would not be a supporter of Trump, but would run with his small caucus instead.
“I’ll probably be behind someone I thought I represented more of the smaller wing of the Republican Party,” he said.
