Meet Charlotte Kirk: The actress who took on two studio chiefs

The news on Tuesday that NBCUniversal Vice President Ron Meyer, one of the longest-serving top executives in Hollywood, was fired from NBCUniversal because of the fallout from an extraterrestrial affair was big enough to rock the industry. But then broke the news that Mrs. Meyer’s relationship was with was none other than Charlotte Kirk, whose extramarital affair with former Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara in 2013 and 2014 finally led to the dismissal of Tsujihara in 2019.

It sounds almost like a former soap opera – an aspiring actor who somehow brings down two of the most powerful men in Hollywood. And yet, despite her enormous influence on the sector, and her productive and free-spirited presence on Instagram, Kirk remains a rather mysterious figure for the sector.

Upon contact on Tuesday, Kirk’s manager asked if Variation paid for interviews – Variation does not – and declined to comment further on the record.

So who is Charlotte Kirk?

Born in the UK, she currently lives with director Neil Marshall (“The Descent,” “Game of Thrones”) in Los Angeles, according to a document founded by her joint production company, Scarlett Productions, based in the UK Marshall recently Kirk in ‘The Reckoning,’ a thriller she also co-wrote and produced. According to IMDbpro, that production was filmed in July 2019, but currently has no distribution.

The film is set to kick off the 24th annual Fantasia International Film Festival from Thursday night with a virtual screening. Marshall and Kirk were both scheduled to attend a Zoom Q&A after the screening – but Kirk has been backed since then.

When Variation called Marshall for comment, he hung up the phone.

When did Kirk meet Ron Meyer?

Kirk met Meyer around 2012, when she was 19 or 20, and they started an affair, two sources have confirmed Variation. Meyer would have been 67 or 68. According to a statement from Meyer who did not name Kirk, the affair was “very brief and consensual.”

How does Kevin Tsujihara factor it all in?

Now, it’s about producer and billionaire James Packer and his then-producing partner Brett Ratner. In late 2012, Kirk was also reportedly in a relationship with Packer, and by September 2013, Packer introduced Kirk to Tsujihara, according to text messages leaked to The Hollywood Reporter. From that meeting, Kirk and Tsujihara maintained a sexual relationship in 2014.

How did this affair cost Tsujihara his job?

Kirk said Tsujihara did not behave well, but after her affair ended, Kirk began contacting Tsujihara, Packer and Ratner to pressure her to land her roles in upcoming films.

Kirk’s efforts did not result in anything substantial, but she landed small roles in the Warner Bros. production “Ocean’s 8” and the New Line Cinema production “How to Be Single.”

When Tsujihara’s actions came to light in 2019, he had little choice but to resign.

That wait, how did Kirk get involved with Neil Marshall?

Kirk also echoed the pressure from Millennium Films CEO Avi Lerner to take on country roles in his productions, including the 2019 remake of “Hellboy” directed by Marshall.

She did not secure a part, but her efforts brought her into the care of Marshall, who told THR that he was pushing ‘hard’ to get her a part in his film. Marshall later dedicated his career to making “The Reckoning.”
