Medical condition overturned A’Shawn Robinson

The Los Angeles Rams have no schedule for the return of A’Shawn Robinson after an unknown medical condition put the former Alabama All-American on the list of non-football injuries, said Sean McVay, the NFL team’s coach on Sunday. .

The Rams placed the defensive tackle on NFI on Saturday.

“He’s able to attend meetings, get treatment, be with his teammates,” McVay said. “We look forward to getting him back at some point this season. When that is, I do not know specifically. ”

A training camp exam identified Robinson’s condition, which McVay refused to give up. Jordan Rodrigue of The Athletic reported that the problem was cardiovascular in nature. McVay said Robinson would not need a medical procedure to correct the condition.

“It’s not something that matters,” McVay said. ‘I’m glad we were able to get it early. It’s something that surprises us. This we did not expect. ”

After spending his first four NFL seasons with the Detroit Lions, Robinson arrived in Los Angeles on March 18 as a free agent for a two-year, $ 17 million contract.

In 2019, when he started nine games, Robinson had 40 tackles and hit three passes while playing 46 percent of the defensive snaps for the Lions. He missed the last three games of the season due to a shoulder injury.

In 58 games with Detroit, Robinson had 37 starts, 172 tackles, five sacks, 16 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception, returning 2 yards for a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints on October 15, 2017. The punctuation is one of 16 passes Robinson has received at least one hand in his NFL career.

At Alabama, Robinson was a 2015 All-American consensus for Crimson Tide’s CFP national championship team.

Robinson entered the NFL as a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
