Maxine Waters: Biden ‘Can’t Go Home Without a Black Woman VP’

Rep. Maxine Waters expressed confidence that a Black woman would be on the Democratic ticket as vice president.

In a Friday town hall meeting with Essence, the California Democrat agreed that Joe Biden would choose a Black woman as his running mate based on help he received from the Black community.

‘Let me guarantee you this, based on everything I know and understand, and the help that [Biden] is already from the Black community … he can not go home without a Black woman VP, “Waters said.” We will have a VP for black woman. “

Earlier on Saturday, Biden raised eyebrows by telling Fox News that he had decided on a vice president, a decision that was widely expected after his campaign narrowed the list down to a handful of choices.

“Yes, I have,” Biden told Fox in Delaware when asked if he had a VP or not.

When Fox News asked who, Biden said “you” in response. It was initially unclear how serious Biden’s first response, made during a bike ride in a state park, was.

Both confidants, who spoke with Axios, said the final two candidates Sen. Kamala Harris of California, and Susan Rice, who served as National Security Adviser and Ambassador to the United Nations under President Obama.

Last week, Biden told reporters that he would elect his party’s vice-presidential nominee by “the first week in August.” But a source familiar with the process told Fox News on Monday that “an announcement this week is likely not.”

With the August 17 start of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) approaching, a leading adviser to Biden said the former vice president would “spend time” with the controversies on the shortlist next week or so.
