Cristaps Porzings, the big man of the Dallas Mavericks, has been ruled out of the rest of the first-round playoff series against the LA Clippers due to a ruptured meniscus in his right knee.
The team said in a statement that “further treatment options are being explored at the moment” and that Porzingis was injured during the loss of Mavericks’ Game 1.
Porzingis was listed as a question mark for Game 2, when he scored 23 points and caught seven rebounds in 36 minutes to help the Maves win. Minutes in Game 3 Loss in 38 minutes he performed 34-points, 13-rebound.
There was no mention of his knee issue in the game injury report, but he was scratched just minutes before Tipoff after the pain reporting miner reported. He also lost Game 5, downgraded from questionable to game morning.
Porzingis missed a season in February, 2018 after tearing the ACL in his left knee, ending the final game for the New York Knicks. The following year, Mavvse acquired Porzingsis in a business, which he linked with rising superstar Luca Du Nick as a franchise cornertone.
Dallas re-signed Porzings last summer for a five-season maximum deal of 158 million.
During his first season with the Mavericks, Games 25-Pourgings, 25, averaged 20.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 57 games during his average season.
