Matt Rhule: Teddy Bridgewater has a “great arm”

Matt Rhule was asked Thursday about the “narrative” that Teddy Bridgewater lacks the arm strength to be a passer on the field.

While the Panthers believe Bridgewater has deep ball accuracy, Rhule also indicated that Joe Brady’s offense will not ask Bridgewater to do that often.

“Teddy, for us, is exactly what we want,” said Rhule, via Joe Person of TheAthletic.com. “I think this offense in general, when you look at New Orleans, that iteration, where Joe first learned it, is not necessarily a vertical passing game, both on the field and it’s a catch-and-run, underneath, game of pairing type passes.

“Obviously you have to be able to throw the ball down the field. Teddy has a great arm. I can recall that he threw what I would call a 48-yard shooting path down the right sideline to the 12-yard line against someone. So he certainly has the arm strength to do it. “

Rhule named DJ Moore, Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel as “deep game threats”.
