“He is a special talent, a special child that we will take care of and try to become a superior player,” said Solskjaer.

“He is doing well now, but he is still young and has things to learn. He knows that, but we have a special talent that we must cultivate.”

Greenwood’s goal came after a run into Brighton’s penalty area and after Fernandes doubled the lead before the break. The Portuguese midfielder scored the third from the Greenwood center after a quick counterattack.

“It’s getting better,” said Solskjaer. “You can clearly see that he is maturing and improving, he is only 18 years old, so we will see more of him.”

“I’ve said it throughout the year that as long as we can tackle it in and around the box, it will create opportunities for us, but in this game his holding game and his link and general movement game were fantastic as well.”

After the game, Fernandes said he believes United can get into the top four in the league, with Chelsea in fourth place two points ahead of them with a game in hand, and was quick to credit his teammates. for flourishing under Solskjaer.

“We are fighting for a place in the Champions League and we know we can do it,” said Fernandes.

“I don’t want to talk too much about myself and Paul Pogba, we are happy to play together but I am happy to play with everyone. We can combine, we have qualities, but we know we have teammates who can do well.

“We knew we needed to move forward and try to score from the first minute. I was lucky with the first goal and the second goal was incredible, an incredible pass from Mason.”
