SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3): Wearing a mask every day is far from normal, but for 90 days Springfield residents are doing exactly that.
The City of Springfield issued a mask mandate last week requiring all ages 12 and up to wear one within local and outdoor businesses where they cannot social distance.
KY3 asked viewers what problems they were having with the masks and contacted local experts for advice on mask tricks that everyone can use.
My makeup covers my entire face when I put on my mask. Any advice for you to stay?
Makeup artist Carrie Miller says the best way is to avoid using the foundation entirely if you can. Since your mouth is covered, focusing on the eyes is key. But if you go somewhere, you will take off the mask, she has some suggestions.
“Use a mineral base,” says Miller. “Use an adjustment spray. If you have to use a liquid foundation, I can definitely recommend using a fluffy base brush and loading it with your liquid foundation. Placing it with a setting spray and polishing it on the skin. “
How can I prevent my lenses from fogging when I have a mask?
This was the number one question we received. The glasses mask combination is certainly annoying, with all the mist appearing.
Dr. Chris Boschen and the optometrist at Sunshine Eye Clinic say he has had more patients requesting contact so they can avoid wearing their glasses.
However, he says there are masks that are more suitable to wear together.
“Find a mask that has a metal wire or something stiff on the top of the mask so that you can then shape it and it forms around your nose and runs down your cheekbones,” he explains. “That will help prevent air from rising behind the glasses. That’s probably the most important thing and making sure the mask is high enough. Second, make sure the glasses are on the outside of the mask. So that may mean placing the frames a little further from the eyes than normal. “
How can I prevent the mask from pulling on my ears?
There are some masks that do not fit around the ears and wrap around the back of the head.
But if you don’t want to invest in a new mask, you can make it yourself.
All you need is a regular mask, two safety pins, and two rubber bands.
Tie the two rubber bands together, and then use the safety pins to attach them to the mask. That way, you have some stretching and the band can avoid your ears.
How do I stop having acne under my mask?
Happens. It’s hot underneath that mask and if you wear makeup you’re also likely to clog your pores. Makeup artist Carrie Miller says the best thing you can do to prevent it from happening is to make sure you wear a clean mask.
“Wash your mask if you’re using a reusable one,” says Miller. “Don’t wash the same mask twice. If you are using disposables, use a clean one. ”
