Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man 3’ could bring a ‘Suicide Squad’ star into the MCU

Technically, it would have already started. But many fans do not know about Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the future of the Avengers in question, the MCU has to answer many questions. One of the biggest, however, includes Spider-Man (Tom Holland). Now, a new rumor could give fans some idea who might be participating in the wallcrawler’s upcoming third MCU entry.

Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man in 2021

For the most part Spider-Man: Far From Home served as feature length in memoariam for Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Finally, Peter Parker of Holland was Stark’s protégé in the MCU. And Spidey’s sequel sees Peter lose his mentor and find his own way in the superhero world. Of course, the mid-credits scene changed everything.

After the death of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), the late supervillain has one last trick up his sleeve: a video message for the world. And J. Jonah Jameson himself – again played by Oscar winner JK Simmons – reveals the secret identity of Spider-Man to the world. Presumably this means that the webslinger will be a fugitive from justice the next time he hits the big screen.

The film will presumably be centered on Kraven the Hunter

For many fans, Spider-Man on the plane immediately signaled the difficult arrival of Kraven de Jager. In the comics, the character arrives in New York City determined to capture Spidey. A loose fit of this storyline fits perfectly into the MCUs Spider-Man 3. In fact, Kraven is one of the only major Spider-Man villains that did not appear on screen.

The following Spider-Man film is currently slated for release on November 5, 2021. But unlike Simmons’ likely return, fans have no idea how the film will deal with the consequences of Peter’s secret. However, Kraven feels it is the safest bet. And a new report could shed some light on who the character can play if he joins the MCU.

Marvel would like a ‘Suicide Squad’ actor to play the villain

According to Murphy’s Multiverse, Marvel hopes to find a “Joel Kinnaman-type” for Spider-Man 3. Moviegoers probably know Kinnaman best for his role as Rick Flag in Suicide Squad. And he’s ready to go back for James Gunn’s upcoming sequel. While the rumored casting call does not specify the role, the word is that it is certain for Kraven de Jager.

After all, Kraven will probably be the main villain of the film and, therefore, one of the main leads. And given Kinnaman’s story with action – he also died in 2014 Robocop restart – this sounds like Marvel quests for the perfect Kraven.

Of course, that does not just mean that Kinnaman is mentioned by name that he will land the part. Then the MCU was re-searched for an “Alison Brie type” for She-Hulk. And rumors will not stop about Brie’s casting. That fans will have to wait and see how both of those scenarios play out.
