Mark Webber sets up his ideal Porsche Taycan – this is what he chose

Car configurators are known to be productivity killers for many car enthusiasts, and it seems that the wealthy and famous also have a hard time staying away from them.

Mark Webber is one of them, with the nine-time Formula One Grand Prix winner and FIA WEC champion using the extra time he spends online these days to set up his perfect Porsche Taycan.

Unsurprisingly, Webber, who is also a Porsche brand ambassador and 911 owner, decided to go for the high-end Taycan Turbo S, which offers up to 750 HP (761 PS) and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque in overboost.

With the chosen model variant, the Australian had to choose a body color and opted for Dolomite Silver, a discreet paint that he considers to be very well suited to the super clean look of the Taycan.

“Actually, I’m extremely traditional and conservative when it comes to colors,” says Webber. After the exterior paint, the first box he checked was the Carbon SportDesign Package. “I haven’t seen this on metal before, but it gives the front a very different feel, which is great. And I love a panoramic roof. All that glass really tops it off, inside or outside. ”

Wheels are obviously another essential element and the old F1 ace was for optional Taycan Exclusive rims. “The blades on these 21-inch Taycan Exclusive options look very sharp in black, especially against exterior paint. And I have also chosen to finish the brake calipers in black. It’s a small detail, but it makes all the difference, ”believes Webber.

With the exterior practically wrapped, the champion turned his attention to the Taycan’s cabin. Setting it up was easier since Alcantara was the obvious choice, given the popularity of the material in race cars.

“It was just a way of going inside. Black and Slate Gray complement what goes on outside and I love Alcantara, as you can see in all my 911 cars, ”says Webber. “Maybe they are great memories of motorsport, but Alcantara for me says ‘fast’. It’s a little hot in warmer environments, but that’s why I have also opted for cooling seats.”

Look aside, there is one last option that Mark Webber could not do without: the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport. Here’s why: “Whenever Porsche gives you the option to put the icing on the cake in terms of dynamics, it’s something I will always do. But there isn’t much more I need. For my money, this is the ideal Taycan. ” Opinions?
