Positive COVID-19 cases continue to increase in Marion County, according to the latest report from the county’s Joint Information Center. As of Friday, 24 new positive COVID-19 tests were reported to Marion County Public Health, with 63 active cases. There have been 278 total positives since March, and 215 have been restored, with no deaths related to COVID-19 as of Friday. That’s an increase of 72 cases since last Friday. The 14-day positive test rate analysis is now at 12.4% percent, a number used for schools to determine if they can apply for 100% distance education. Districts can apply for an exemption if they approach the 15% threshold to potentially close school buildings.
