Friday second-year linebacker Marcel brooks He put his name on the transfer portal and can now be contacted by other university programs, multiple sources confirmed to Geaux247 staff. Sources also confirmed that Brooks had a conversation with LSU staff on Friday morning before making their decision to enter the portal.

In one season at LSU, Brooks established himself as a quick pass threat to the Tigers on the road to a 15-0 season and victory in the National Championship. Brooks played in backup in 11 games without starts, and ended the year with eight tackles and 1.5 sacks to his credit. His solo capture came in a tight home matchup against Florida, while he had a half-catch in a total victory against Texas A&M in the regular season finale.
Here’s a breakdown from 247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks about what Brooks brought to the field when he left high school, comparing it to NFL linebacker Darron Lee.
“Tall, long, tall athlete with an outstanding frame,” he said. “Good height and enormous wingspan. The volume potential is very high given his frame. Dynamic athlete who shows outstanding playing ability on both sides of the ball. Dominant at times against strong competition in the largest Texas classification. Proven impact play outside prop, receiver and even DB. Projects external prop with very high ceiling as a pin. Outstanding speed relative to projected position. Explodes from edge and closes quickly. Dangerous in Chase Powerful striker Versatile Play on a bad streak
“While the draw potential is outstanding, a large sum of volume must be produced to play in the draw at the higher high level, possibly leading to an adjustment to play heavier. Crude from a technical point of view relative to its position projected. A little tight and “You will need to build size and strength to fight the college linemen, particularly in the running game. You will have to acclimatize physically and technically to deal with the line of scrimmage if you are asked to play from the edge. “
Brooks left Marcus High at Flower Mound as part of the class of 2019, where he was rated by the 247Sports Composite as the nation’s No. 2 outside linebacker prospect and No. 32 overall prospect in the class. At 247Sports, he was ranked the 17th overall prospect in the country, and was a consensual five-star recruit.
