During years, We are Fans have been begging the NBC drama to explore the backstory of Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Miguel (Jon Huertas), and we now know that season 5 will be successful.
When We are When its fourth season ended, creator Dan Fogelman confirmed that viewers will learn more about Rebecca and Miguel’s relationship as the series delves deeper into the life of Pearson’s matriarch. But recently, Moore revealed that the story is something that writers are “eager to explore.” This is why.

In We are Season 4, Rebecca was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment. At first, Rebecca wanted to spend the rest of her days enjoying time with her family. However, Randall (Sterling K. Brown) pressured her mother to do a clinical trial in St. Louis, Missouri.
Now when We are returns for season 5, Rebecca is expected to move to St. Louis with Miguel. Then, when he spoke to The Hollywood Reporter in March 2020, Fogelman explained where the character is heading next.
“Obviously it is a challenging chapter for Rebecca to move on,” Fogelman said at the time. “We have a great story planned for Mandy in the upcoming season today as an older woman and also in her past timelines.
The creator added: “That will include a deeper look at Rebecca and Miguel’s relationship over the decades.”

With Rebecca and Miguel’s backstory confirmed for We are Season 5, fans are increasingly curious about how the relationship will unfold on screen. Then, in an interview with TV Insider published in July 2020, Moore noted that the writers are concerned about comparisons to Rebecca’s relationship with Jack (Milo Ventimiglia).
“We’ve been talking about that for many years and I feel like this is finally the season,” Moore said of the background story of Miguel and Rebecca. “I know that is something that writers are eager to explore. And I feel that that will be one of the best tricks of the show, is to get people to join Rebecca and Miguel. I know it will always be ‘Jack and Rebecca.’ “
With that said, Moore is ready to embrace the relationship. And hopefully, viewers are too. “They deserve a new opportunity to live together,” he said. “I am excited to see how they will unite us.”
When will season 5 of ‘This Is Us’ return?

For now, We are Fans will have to wait and see when the series returns to NBC. The network recently revealed that the show will be part of the Fall 2020 lineup. However, it appears that the We are The team is not sure when production will start due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).
On July 6, Moore answered a call with the Today Show and confirmed that he doesn’t know when. We are Season 5 will begin filming.
“I’m not sure. I’ve heard conflicting reports. I don’t think there is any official word,” said Moore. “Normally, historically, we would be back to work this week. Just after July 4 is when we typically return.”
She continued: “I know that writers have convened a kind of virtual writers’ room, probably two months ago. So once we are clear about all the local government here in Los Angeles that it is safe to return, we are ready to go. So I hope it is sooner rather than later. All of us have been to Zooms as a cast together. And everyone is super eager to get back to work. “
