Mandy Moore doesn’t seem impressed by ex-husband Ryan Adams’ weekend apology for the way he said he has “mistreated people” throughout his life and career.
“I find it funny that someone apologizes publicly but doesn’t do it privately,” the “This Is Us” actress and singer said Monday on the “Today” show.
She and several other women, including several high-profile music collaborators and at least one minor fan of the time, accused the singer-songwriter of sexual misconduct and abusive behavior at a New York Times exhibition earlier last year.
Adams, who was married to Moore for six years before divorcing in 2015, gave a statement to the Daily Mail on Friday saying that he is now sober and apologizing for his behavior. The “period of isolation and reflection” of the pandemic made him realize that he had to change his ways, he said.
“To many people this will seem like the same void … excuse me I have always used when they called me, and all I can say is that this time is different,” Adams wrote.
“I really realized the damage I have caused, it tore me apart, and I am still recovering from the ripples of devastating effects that triggered my actions. There is no way to convince people that this time is really different, but this is the albatross that I deserve to take as a result of my actions. “
Moore, who noted that in many ways he had already said everything he had to say on the subject of his ex, was not exactly buying his words on Monday.
“I haven’t heard from him, and I’m not necessarily looking for an apology, but I find it funny that someone does an interview about it without amending it in private,” he said.
