Mandap pirate caught on ring video trying to steal Merchant Shed’s home package, police say

Maple Shed, New Jersey (WPVI) – Police have arrested a man who was first caught on camera by a New Jersey homeowner, Maple Shed, in the act of stealing a package from his porch.

Ernest Adkins, 53, was arrested Friday and charged Friday with felony criminal mischief in Pensaukan, where he lives, police said.

Duckins was also charged with a count of theft from a pavilion incident that took place in December, following an investigation between Pence au and Na and the Maple Shed police department.

The video, captured by Rosa Chavez’s ring camera, shows a man trying to snatch a package from the front porch of his home on Ann Chestnut Avenue around 1 p.m.

The man was wearing a ski mask and carrying a shopping bag.

In the video, the guy takes the package and puts it in his shopping bag. Chavez then speaks to him through the thera and asks him to put the package down.

“You know you’re on camera, right?” Says Chave.

“Yes, I was bringing your package to you for meme,” the man replies.

“You need to put it back,” Chaves says.

“It’s there, ma’am,” the man says before walking away.

Chavez said she waited a few seconds to say something to make sure she wasn’t there for legal reasons.

“It wasn’t what I expected. He was clearly not afraid of getting caught,” he said.

Maple Shed police said they were particularly shocked by the video’s suspicious decision to put the package behind them.

Adkins was served with a summons for a future court date in January on charges of medal shed theft.

“The Maple Shed Police Department values our working relationship with all of our neighboring police agencies,” Maple Shed Police Chief Christopher Fletcher said in a statement Saturday.
